Players of the Week – Week 4
By Sean Dochney
Chris Angelini – Warewolves
The Commissioner came out swinging in Week 4 in the 46-28 win over the Money Team. Angelini would complete 21 or 26 of his passes for an outstanding 440 yards. That is almost 17 yards per attempt for the Commissioner. He would throw 6 touchdowns and 1 interception in the game. Ang is putting up a strong season (for his Warewolves persona) as he sits third in QB rating with 132.47. The Commissioner has thrown for the most yards in the league with 1362, and his 20 touchdowns is good to be tied for second. Chris is first in the league in yards per attempt, and by a wide margin with it sitting at 13.8. Giuffre is the next closest QB in yards per attempt, and he currently sits at 10.1. Angelini must bring down the amount of interceptions on the season, as he already has 5 through the first 4 games. Ang must be on top of his game in Week 5 as they take on Strangers with Candy. Don’t let Candy’s 1-3 record fool you, they have had a tough schedule to start the season and played some tough teams well, losing 2 games in the final minute this season. They will be no pushover for the Warewolves, and this Week 5 matchup is shaping up to be a good one.
John Zitani – Woodchucks
The Zit popped off once again in Week 4 as the Woodchucks crushed the Red Jaguars 63-18. Zitani was extremely efficient in the win as he completed 19 of his 22 passes for 317 yards and 6 touchdowns. This was the Zitani the fans love to see as he disregarded his Charlie Check Down habits and let the ball fly in Week 4. Zitani is now the top rated QB in the league with a QB Rating of 141.27. He has completed a league high 75.2% of his passes for 1315 yards and league leading 21 touchdowns. Most impressively, the Zit has thrown only 1 interception this season. The Woodchucks will have a tough matchup with the Shockers in what will surely be the Game of the Week for Week 5. The Zit will need to be at the top of his game if the Woodchucks plan on staying undefeated while also handing the Shockers their second loss of the season
Shane Capone – Warewolves
Is there any receiver better than Shane Capone in the JSGFFL? Shane Capowned once again as he hauled in 7 catches for 164 yards and 4 TDs in Week 4. The only receiving category Capone does not lead is receptions, that honor belongs to Mike O’Neill. Capone now has 18 receptions for 436 yards and 7 touchdowns. Shane will look to have another big game in Week 5, as Strangers with Candy will try to find a way to stop him.
Mike Lawrence – Rabid Squirrels
Mike Lawrence had his best game of the season as the Rabid Squirrels squeaked by Strangers with Candy in the thrilling 30-27 victory. Mike Lawrence would be on the receiving end of the game winning 60-yard touchdown in the final minute of the game. Lawrence would end the game with 4 catches for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lawrence now has 10 catches for 182 yards and 3 touchdowns on the season. The Rabid Squirrels will look to continue momentum from their dramatic victory as they enter Week 5 as the heavy favorite against the Red Jaguars.
Devon McEllen – Woodchucks
Devon had a big game in the Woodchucks victory returning an interception for a touchdown as the Woodchucks dominated the Red Jaguars. McEllen was not just dominant on defense in Week 4, but he was a jack of all trades, getting his hands on everything in the victory. Devon not only had a touchdown on defense, he also had 2 receiving touchdowns as well as a passing touchdown. I am just going to start making up single game accomplishments, and claim that this is the first time anyone has ever scored a defensive, receiving, and passing touchdown in a single JSGFFL game. I would also appreciate if no one double checks my bold claim, and if they do, I will just delete that other player’s game because I control the stats anyway. Devon has been stellar on defense for the Woodchucks this season, he has been shutting down anyone who lines up in front of him and now has 2 interceptions on the season. He will have to be stellar again in Week 5 as the Woodchucks will be taking on the Shockers in the Game of the Week.
Bill Budd – Rabid Squirrels
Bill Budd had another interception this past week as he now leads the JSGFFL in interceptions with 4. This interception proved to be huge as this game would go down to the wire that resulted in a thrilling Rabid Squirrels victory. Budd has been having a great season and does not look to be slowing down. He has also added 2 sacks to go along with his 4 interceptions. He will look to add to his impressive season as the Rabid Squirrels take on the Red Jaguars in Week 5.
